Ryan graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a focus in Real Estate.  He was awarded a full academic scholarship, maintained Dean's List honors, and was actively involved in the Interfraternity Council.  He earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in 2008. During his time there, he was consistently named to the Dean's List, served on the Executive Leadership Council, and founded the Real Estate Society, where he held the position of President.  His time in law school laid the foundation for a career marked by leadership, innovation, and service. Ryan quickly distinguished himself in the legal community not only as a skilled advocate but also as a collaborator and educator dedicated to the advancement of the profession.

Ryan is a certified mediator in both state and federal courts, and routinely helps other lawyers resolve their clients’ disputes. Ryan served as an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law, where he was named “Adjunct Professor of the Year” in 2014-2015. In 2017, Ryan received the American Bar Association’s “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers” award. Ryan has also been recognized as the “South Carolina Young Lawyer of the Year” by the South Carolina Bar in 2012-2013, was named as among the Forty under 40 by the Charleston Regional Business Journal in 2015, and in 2022, was named as a South Carolina “Super Lawyer” for the first time, graduating from his repeated inclusions on the South Carolina Super Lawyer Rising Star list.

In addition to his dedication to his clients, Ryan is highly committed to serving his community. He founded a partnership with Make-A-Wish South Carolina that raised the funds necessary to grant numerous Wishes, including one little girl’s Wish to be Rapunzel for the day. He also assisted in the implementation of disaster legal services to over 550 South Carolina families during the 1,000-year flood in October of 2015 and Hurricane Matthew the following year. He regularly drafts wills for firefighters, police officers and Habitat for Humanity home recipients, prepares tax returns for low-income families through the South Carolina Bar, and provides legal services to the homeless through legal clinics.

Ryan has been connected to the legal and business community in Charleston and the surrounding counties for more than 20 years. He concentrates his practice on civil litigation, spanning a range of industries and matters. He works with individuals, businesses, in-house counsel, and insurance adjusters in a wide variety of matters relating to commercial law, employment issues, insurance coverage, contract disputes, real estate, business disputes, property law, tort issues, construction, estate litigation, equity, and alternative dispute resolution.
